Summer 2014 EmploymentAPTLII is currently accepting applications for instructional staff positions in Summer 2014. The general position overview and duties are described below. Principal duties include teaching the appropriate language (Arabic, Persian, or Turkish) at the elementary, intermediate, or advanced level in an eight-week summer immersion format on the UW-Madison campus. Based on student needs some instructors will work with multiple levels/classes throughout the summer.
All staff are required to help facilitate a language immersion environment by providing cultural and linguistic resources for students, organizing afternoon and evening cultural and language workshops, attending meals and all non-classroom activities, and facilitating communication between APTLII administrative staff and students.
Staff will reside at study site in Madison, Wisconsin for the duration of the summer program and will each have one weekend off on a rotating basis. Compensation for the full summer term will be approximately $12,500 based on experience, responsibilities, and arrival dates.

Master’s degree is required (PhD preferred), with a major preferably in Arabic/Persian/Turkish language and/or literature, or SLA focused on these languages, as well as native or near-native fluency in the appropriate language. At least one year of college/university experience preferred in teaching of Arabic/Persian/Turkish language at any level. Familiarity with current pedagogy also preferred.
